march came in like a lion and out like a lion, too! skied in mammoth yesterday in a storm - windy and snowy and the snow was that perfect powder! today was stellar. the email i got from the mountain regarding the temps and conditions was "get out that sun screen, it's a warm and sunny day!" it was sunny, but definitely not warm. and there is another storm on the way, woo hoo! and no, i am not sick of shoveling. yet. :D having some time off (this is a free weekend for me, as if you didnt know, you calendar checkers, you!) certainly makes me want to write. so i brought my mandolin with me and i am hoping to learn one more chord this weekend - i have 3 down, D, G, and C, but thats it. if i want to write with just one more chord, right now i can't!!!! if i end up writing enough songs with it, i will have a pick up installed and start bringing it to gigs. but dont hold your breath, it could be awhile!
view of the mountains right before dusk...

more soon! xo

it's pouring here in sunny southern california, and will be for a few more days.... and snowing in the local mountains! AND... mammoth has just gotten 73" from this big storm that started hitting on sunday night.... they have surpassed the snow record from previous years and will definitely be open through the 4th of july. so its going to be a great spring ski season! woo hoo! after the tragedy that unfolded last week in mammoth, the day after my last journal entry, everything has been in kind of a funk. my thoughts and prayers are with the ski patrollers who lost their lives trying to make the mountain safe for people like me. to read about it, or to buy a ticket TODAY which all proceeds will go to the patrollers memorial fund, go to mammoth mountain official website.
since then some of you have seen some of the gigs, the duo show at the valencia borders which was totally wonderful, and a fundraiser for the west side food bank over at universal bar and grill. thanks to those of you who came out, brought bags of food, and hung out and ate and listened to some great music!!!

went to the clippers/mavericks game on monday,

but didnt get to see my old acting class cronie, mark cuban. oh well, next time! seats were great - third row and so close you could almost smell the players. thankfully not THAT close....
now it's raining AGAIN in los angeles, so this weekend will be a free weekend for me, no gigs (easter mammoth shows were cancelled), so i plan on relaxing and also updating my just finally succumbed to myspace page, sigh, where i have uploaded some music from both welcome home and snack, and have a few pics, gig listing and now am collecting the friends thing. :D yeow, like i need more web sites to manage...... :D hope you have a wonderful passover, easter, weekend off, or whatever you want to celebrate, and hope to see ya soon!

people have been asking me, because of the recent marches by immigrants in this country in many cities around the U.S.A., including los angeles, how i feel about immigration... i could not have picked a better quote....
theodore roosevelt, the 26th president of these here united states, said:

We should insist that if the immigrant who comes here does in good faith become an American and assimilates himself to us he shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birth-place or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn't doing his part as an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. . . We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.

and that is what i believe, dear friends who have inquiring minds....
